Long Beach Lifeguards serving Ecuador

Project Ecuador is a new international lifesaving venture for the Long Beach Lifeguard Association.  The purpose is to train citizens of Playas Ecuador to become ocean lifeguards covering 2.5 miles of a popular, but dangerous beach break.  The December 2006 initial training class of 23 included 16 young men and 7 men from Ecuador’s Black Beret Special Forces.  The training was administered by John Pearce and Paul Dunning.  Ecuador’s Red Cross officials administered the CPR certification.  Over the past 2 months, 6 rescues have been documented including a triple rescue of a mother and her 2 children.  Hats off to our South American friends!  To take part or visit Ecuador or to help fund rescue equipment needs via tax deductable donation, please email John or Paul as follows:  JPearceZoo@Verizon.net or PaulDunning911@msn.com
