Competitor Highlight: Tyler Anderson
Since April of this year, Tyler Anderson has been spending his weekends competing in paddleboard races from Point Magu to Coronado. Tyler has paddled his 18’-6”, unlimited paddleboard in a total of eight races from 4 – 12 miles long. In those races, Tyler has placed 6th, 2nd twice, and 1st overall 5 times.
His hard work, and dedication has definately paid off with sponsorship offers from Bark Paddleboards, and Waterman Sunscreen along with receiving awards, and cash prizes.
Although Tyler has already raced 8 times this season, he has his sights set on the longer, more popular races like the 22 mi. Rock to Rock, 32 mi. Molokai to Oahu, 32 mi. Catalina Classic, and The U.S. & International Championships.
Tyler is also a successful lifeguard competitor, and has completed the 22 mi. Great Catalina Dory Race with fellow LB Lifeguard Richie Caldwell.
When Tyler is not lifeguarding at Marina Park, you will see him out paddling in the waterways of Long Beach training for all of his upcoming races.
