Members Present;

Membership and BBQ; Halverson
One new member, Gary Drent, one renewal, Rick Skarbo brings the 2010 membership to 60 members.
BBQ at least two more BBQ’s at the LGLG Museum (AUG 19 & 26)

Wellness; Coulter
It was reported that Debbi (Walt) Halverson’s Father, Don and Brian Pottenger grandmother Martha passed away. The LBLG Alumni send our sincere condolences to all of their family members. It was nice to see Bruce Lemmon and Robin Durnin, at the last two BBQ’s who are going through cancer treatment and send them our hope and prayers.

Fellowship of the Dory; Miller
A site has been located to move the Dory, to an area across from the Museum on the north side of the Marine Stadium, in a city storage area. Pakiz, Crail and Miller will tour the area and make the final decision, also a new storage container is being sought to store it in. It has been expressed that the Dory be exhibited at some of the BBQ’s and some LG competitions.

Hall of Fame;
Organizer; Michelle Ferrill not present. However, it will be held on SEPT.12 at the Long Beach Yacht Club. Cost somewhere around $60.00 to $65.00. Tom DeLong will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Miller proposed that the Alumni and LG Assoc recognize recurrent (hourly) lifeguard’s years of service with service pins or certificates. Gentile, LBLG hourly assoc rep, will bring it up to the next LBLG Assoc meeting.

Berry Wood; news article
Wood was highlighted in a local news paper concerning his long time association with the yachting world and his years of being a yacht broker. Looking for that yacht, contact him at, www.yachtworld.com/heritageyachts.

BBQ at LG Museum AUG 19 & 26; Naples Island swim, one & three miles AUG 15; Red Bull Flugtog at the Downtown Marina area AUG 21; Catalina 32 mile paddle board race AUG 29

Sea Festival: Miller
Dick Miller; Roger Patterson; Carl Halsted; Fred Simpson ,Tom DeLong and Walt (Waldo) Halverson helped as timers for the Dick Miller swim meet at the Plaza Pool on AUG 14. Dick would have bought your breakfast too if you volunteered.

Late Item;
Long Beach Fire Dept, Chief Patalano and City of Long Beach has approve and appointed Randy Foster as the new Chief of Lifeguards. Congratulations to Randy, we look forward working with him in keeping the traditions, high standards of lifeguarding and the public water safe. We know that Randy will take pride and provide the leadership in keeping the LONG BEACH LIFEGUARDS the best there is amongst all other lifeguard/fire dept agencies. The ghosts of pass Lifeguard Chief’s and Lifeguards will also be instilling the traditions, leadership and pride Randy will carry on for the LONG BEACH LIFEGUARDS.

Late item;
Donna Griggs Asked for the alumni sponsorship for the, Friends of the Long Beach Animals Walk on OCTOBER 10 on the beach. It was moved and seconded the alumni donate $500.00, M.P.U. LBLG alumni will be listed as donors on all info. Volunteers are needed, to volunteer or more information go to their web site, www.folba.org. Delong and his dog, Oliver, is the poster couple for the event.

Next board meeting for the LBLG Alumni is on SEPT 8, 2010 at 0830 (8:30 AM) at Buster’s Beach House, we welcome any alumni member to join us.
